Why realness beats polish every time

You look at other people's Instagram accounts. You see beautiful pictures, people living a lifestyle you adore, a content creator who seems to make amazing posts with wonderful photos of herself. 

Then you look at your pictures and think, "Oh no, I can't post that. People won't like it. I need better photos - and I need to learn to write better, too."

That's comparison. 

And so you wait. You don't post. And while you wait, the post doesn't happen...  and the people who needed to hear from you scroll on by.

Here's what I've watched happen over and over again: people don't care whether your pictures are perfect. 

There are content creators filming themselves in bed in their nightgown, or in their worst old trousers, just talking to the camera - taking the photo, writing the way they speak - and people love love looooove it.

And you're still there, not posting, comparing yourself.

The shift that's needed... isn't a better camera. 

It's in your mind. 

Think about who you trust online. {take a sec}

It's rarely the most polished account. It's the one that feels like a person - the one who feels like a lovely neighbour inviting you round for a coffee, or a glass of wine in the evening, or a vegan smoothie, or whatever you like. 

Those are the people we trust. Showing up like that isn't a lack of professionalism. It's the whole point.

So here's the thing to hold onto: polish makes people admire you. Realness makes them trust you.

And that's exactly where my Seen → Safe → Say Yes method comes in. 

People need to see you as you really are. When they see you often - when you post consistently - they start to think, "she seems lovely, her post was helpful." 

That's trust beginning to build. And when your content feels real, they go one step further: "she's someone I could imagine working with." That's the first real step toward a yes.

So next time you're tempted to wait until it's perfect - don't. Pretty please, don't. 

Post the real thing. Say what you mean, keep it simple, and let it be exactly as it is. Because it is enough. 💛
